Musica buena means good music, and that is what the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs’ Wonders on Wheels (WoW) 38-foot RV will bring to Carlsbad on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for free. WoW features the Museum of International Folk Arts’ (MOIFA’s) “Música Buena: Hispano Folk Music of New Mexico,” now on exhibit at the museum. The community will be able to see and touch some of the musical instruments and costumes from MOIFA and enjoy live entertainment by Así se Baila Ballet Folklorico and Flamenco en Nuevo México by Pasión Flamenca.

International supply chain issues and cold weather will delay completion of construction on the New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary. Production disruptions, particularly in the steel and lumber industry, have caused significant delays. Late March snowstorms and cold temperatures caused additional interruptions to the concrete work. As a result, construction will not be completed until late winter.

As part of the grand opening of Bosque Redondo Memorial’s permanent exhibition “A Place of Suffering…A Place of Survival” on May 28, R.B. Burnham & Company will be hosting one of their Native American art and rug auction. They are a trading company situated in Sanders, Arizona, a small reservation border town. 25 to 30 rugs will be made available through the auction, as well as baskets, jewelry, and pottery. The auction begins at 3:00 pm, but visitors will be able to view auction items throughout the day alongside the rest of the day’s events.

They found a pattern common to isolated systems where small organisms often get larger (gigantism) and large organisms typically get smaller (dwarfism), known as the Island Rule or Island Syndrome.
