(Santa Fe, N.M.) - Zoe Sloan Callan, a junior at Native American Community Academy in Albuquerque, beat out seven other high school students from across New Mexico in the 15th annual Poetry Out Loud state finals inside St. Francis Auditorium at the New Mexico Museum of Art on March 8.

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) --- As part of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs year-long commemoration of the centennial of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, the New Mexioc History Museum hosts Her Flag, a giant collaborative art flag. A work-in-progress that’s making its way across the nation, growing stripe by stripe and state by state, Her Flag will be in Santa Fe Thursday, April 30.
Her Flag founder, artist Marilyn Artus, sews each state’s stripe, which are designed by a woman artist in each visited state, onto the flag at a live event in each capital city. This is Artus’ “love letter” to all the men and women who worked to pass the 19th amendment and she uses it as a platform to encourage women to exercise their right to vote that so many fought for just 100 years ago.

(Albuquerque, New Mexico) –“Tiny Titans: Dinosaur Eggs and Babies,” is a traveling exhibit that will be coming to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science in Albuquerque. “Tiny Titans” is promoted by Silver Plume Exhibitions.
The exhibit is family-friendly and focuses on a variety of different dinosaurs and their young. It is ideal for younger children because there are a variety of interactive learning opportunities including a book nook, a dress-up area and a dinosaur “petting zoo.”

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) --- The opening of Palace Seen and Unseen, a new, long-term exhibit opening at the New Mexico History Museum, has been postponed. The Palace of the Governors is a National Historic Landmark located on the campus of the New Mexico History Museum. The building has been undergoing rehabilitation in accordance with the Secretary of Interior Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties.
New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum | Feb 20, 2020
Culture, skill, and entertainment are the focus of the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum’s 21st-annual Cowboy Days celebration. The fun is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 8 at the Las Cruces museum. The family-friendly admission this year is $10 per carload. Pets are not allowed at the festival.

Now, the New Mexico History Museum (NMHM) explores the extensive holdings amassed by the Museum of New Mexico over the past century in a new exhibition entitled Looking Back: Reflecting on Collections which opens March 6, 2020 with an opening reception, Sunday March 8. The exhibition runs through March 7, 2021.

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) – With the upcoming renovation of the Here, Now and Always (HNA) exhibition at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture (MIAC), the museum and its staff are hard at work planning and executing the curation of the exhibition. There any many new and interactive sections that are planned to be installed during the restoration, however, MIAC is asking for the public’s help in acquiring one of their envisioned interactive objects.
MIAC is searching for a pre-21st century (Chevy or Ford) pick-up truck that is intended to be a part of the Language and Song section of HNA. The truck will serve as a focus object that will give visitors the option to sit in and hear music and languages form indigenous areas around the Southwest.

Held in the Creative Classroom in the Pete V. Domenici Education Building on the NHCC campus, ¡Vamos al Museo! always includes a staff member or artist to lead the art-making workshops. The workshops are also timely, based on a theme. This month, the Feb. 1, ¡Vamos al Museo! was let by artist Lita Sandoval who helped guide the guests during a Valentine-themed workshop.

The talk and book-signing will be held in the History Museum auditorium. Headed into the Wind was just named one of the 2019 Southwest Books of the Year.
With the temperament of Santa Claus and the tenacity of a badger, Jack Loeffler reveals his compassion and concern for Southwestern traditional cultures and their respective habitats in the wake of Manifest Destiny. Working both as an individual and with comrades—including Edward Abbey and Gary Snyder, Loeffler was part of an early coterie of counter culturalists and environmentalists who fought to thwart the plunder of natural resources in the Southwest.
