“Be the Dinosaur!” at Museum’s $5 Dollar First Friday Event Featuring Extended Museum Hours, Reduced Entry Fees, & Fun Family Activities

For Immediate Release: January 16, 2017 (Albuquerque, NM) —The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (NMMNHS) announces family-friendly First Friday evenings at the museum. Offered four times per year, on the first Friday of select months, the entire museum will be open in the evening at a reduced admission fee. These special evenings will focus on a current scientific topic or activity.

The February 3, 2017 First Friday event will feature the museum’s temporary exhibit, Be the Dinosaur! Experience the lost world of the dinosaurs in a state-of-the-art technological exhibit! What was a day in the life of a dinosaur like? How did they live? What do fossils tell us about the ancient past? Find out the answers to these questions and more!

During this special evening, the museum’s paleontologists will be available to answer questions about life on earth during the cretaceous period, 65 million years ago. 

First Friday Events Include:
•Reduced Admission:
$5 per person, from 5:30—9:00pm
•Activities:
Expertly-manned tables and fun activities available throughout the museum
•Exhibit tours:
Conducted by museum Director of Research and Collections, Spencer Lucas, offered at 6:15 and 7:30pm
•Fossil Works Lab:
operating from 5:30 – 8:00pm
•DynaTheater movies:
offered at $5 per person. Showings include Great White Shark at 6:30pm and Incredible Predator at 7:30pm
•$5 Food Trucks: Open from 5:00—8:00pm
•First Friday Fractals:
showings of the spectacular, award-winning full-dome planetarium show are available at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 & 9:00pm. The show takes viewers on a tour of the fractals in nature and zooms through infinitely complex mathematical fractals. Featuring original music, the show is both educational and highly entertaining, and suitable for audiences 3 and up. Visit www.fractalfoundation.org for tickets and more information.

The Be the Dinosaur! First Friday event will be held on February 3, 2017. Museum admission is $5; DynaTheater admission is $5; First Friday Fractals are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for children.
