Passport Santa Fe

Free Family Pass Program for Southside Library Patrons

The New Mexico Museum of Art has entered into a pilot partnership with the Friends of the Library Southside Bookstore with a family-friendly initiative, Passport Santa Fe. This new community outreach program allows library patrons to check out passes for free museum admission.

"This project is an important part of our mission to bring more New Mexicans and more families into the Museum of Art. Engaging with art can be such an inspiring experience for people, and we want to make sure that everyone feels that this Museum is a place for them. This project makes it easy for people to take that first step to visit us," commented Mary Kershaw, director of the museum.

The Passport pass gives families free admission to the New Mexico Museum of Art once during a 2-month time period. When families arrive at the museum they will be offered an activity to help them make the most of their visit to the museum as a family.

If the pilot is successful, the plan is to expand Passport Santa Fe across all libraries in the city, and eventually across the state. Passes are currently available at the Bookstore inside the Southside Library (Southside Library Branch: 6599 Jaguar Drive, Bookstore Hours: Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Background Information

How the project works:

Library patrons check out a pass from the Bookstore which is valid for two months. Arriving at the museum the pass is presented to the museum cashier in exchange for free admission. In return, the visiting family will receive a Family Activity to complete during their visit. An entire family can use one pass: parents or caregivers and all children 18 and under. Library patrons may check out passes more than once. Starting in September every two months at least 100 passes will be available.
