[CORRECTION] Frida Kahlo comes to National Hispanic Cultural Center

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – In collaboration with Opera Southwest, the National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to announce the debut of “Frida” by Robert Xavier Rodriguez. The opera will feature a retelling of the life of one of Mexico’s iconic artists, Frida Kahlo. The fully staged opera, including a full orchestra, is coming to NHCC’s Albuquerque Journal Theater with [three] showings on [Friday, Feb. 18; Saturday, Feb. 19; Sunday, Feb.20]. 

The iconic artist painted over fifty-five self-portraits, each depicting a moment in her life. Similarly, the opera depicts these moments in Frida’s life through a blend of opera and musical theater. The opera will be performed in Spanish, with Spanish and English Supertitles. Performances will be presented in two acts with one intermission. 

The public can enter a chance to win 2 tickets to “Frida” by completing NHCC’s survey. The winner will be informed on Feb. 9, 2022, and only completed surveys will be entered into the random drawing.
