Museum Announces "Not Your Typical Annual Book Sale"

June 19 and 20

(Santa Fe, NM June 7, 2010)--A donation drive beating expectations in terms of quantity, quality, and diversity means this year's annual book sale in support of the New Mexico Museum of Art will offer something for everyone. This not-to-be-missed event will reward those attending with a choice selection of art and Southwest books, a collection of rare books where donors gave generously, as well as many well-priced cookbooks, books on architecture, travel, hardback fiction, and general non-fiction books.

Setting this book sale apart and which should attract those looking for more than books are the remarkable art and collectibles from an embroidered Polish wool coat, to Guatemalan textiles, to Casas Grandes pots, to large photos on canvas, to local artist works, to posters, and beyond.

Director Mary Kershaw expressed her appreciation. "We are very grateful for the true generosity of the community in support of this sale. The outpouring reflects that people feel strongly about supporting the art museum that belongs to the people of New Mexico. These are tight times, and it is gratifying to have that kind of support for the arts from the community and from our fabulous volunteers."

The book sale will be held Saturday June, 19 (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and Sunday, June 20 (10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) Admission to the sale is $5 on Saturday, and free on Sunday. The sale is at the New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 West Palace Avenue, Santa Fe across from the Plaza, by the big clock. (Admission to the museum exhibitions is as usual.)
