Gallup Black-on-white bowl

From the press release:
Museum of Indian Arts and Culture Opens "Painted Reflections: Isomeric Design in Pueblo Pottery"

Gallup Black-on-white bowl

Unidentified Ancestral Pueblo artist, Gallup Black-on-white bowl, ca. 950-1150, mineral pigment on fired clay, 3”x 6”. MIAC/LOA 43323/11.

The painted, hatchured design of pronged elements leave similar shapes of unpainted clay. Optically, the unpainted shapes also appear spatially in front of hatchured backgrounds to visually dominate the design.
