Admission: Free Join us for a NMOP special event: MAMMALS!
During this mammal-themed day at Los Luceros Historic Site, you’ll enjoy a tour of their grounds, make arts and crafts, and you’ll have an opportunity to join New Mexico Department of Game and Fish to learn about local mammals. They’ll be bringing their “mammal truck” filled with skulls, hides, and bones between 1-3 p.m. We’re sure you’ll hear some fun stories too! There will be other activities throughout the day. This may be a perfect Sunday activity for your family!
Schedule of Events
6:00 AM: Los Luceros opens early for Dawn to Dusk Day. Take a nice walk on the property in the early morning. Crafts will be available all day.
10:00 to 11:00 AM: Vinyasa Flow Yoga class with Christa Tyson. Check in at the visitor center, then meet in the community room.
11:30 AM to 12:30 PM: Ranger-led tour of the Los Luceros historic district, with a special focus on the mammals (sheep and goats) at the site.
1:00 to 3:00 PM: Mammals workshop with NMDGF for all ages to earn a stamp in your New Mexico Outdoor Pass. Check in at the visitor center.
8:00 PM: Los Luceros closes.
Created by Pajarito Environmental Education Center and Los Luceros Historic Site, the New Mexico Outdoor Pass (NMOP) is a FREE booklet and community events for families where everyone gets rewarded for spending time outside. Participate in this activity and get a stamp for your New Mexico Outdoor Pass booklet. Fill your book with stamps and you’ll be rewarded with prizes! Don’t have a booklet? You can pick one up at the Los Alamos Nature Center or Los Luceros.
